這隊 The Stills-Young Band 樂隊，主力是來自超級組合 Crosby Stills Nash & Young 中之 Stephen Stills 和 Neil Young，他倆早於 CSNY 前，也曾在 Buffalo Springfield 為隊友。在1975 年九月，CSNY 另兩位隊友Crosby & Nash 合作出了大碟'Wind on the Water'，成功進佔Billboard 大碟榜頭十大，翌年六月，再接再厲，推出大碟'Whistling Down the Wire '，而CSNY 另一邊箱Stephen Stills 和Neil Young，他倆也不甘寂寞，在1976 年九月，推出大碟'Long may you run'，全碟共九首歌，Stephen Stills 寫了四首，其他的便是Neil Young 的作品，包括此碟的點題歌曲'Long may you run'，此曲是為他的坐駕而寫於1974 年，一貫Neil Young 的風格，口琴、Acoustic木結他，再加上他獨特而磁性的金嗓子，是這碟最搶耳的歌曲。
